The volume integrator includes a cylindrical body (1) with an internal diameter (D2) and length (L1). An optical receiver (2) is placed at one end in an opening of diameter (D2). The end face (3) of a multimode optical fibre (4) is inserted through an opening of diameter (D3) at the other end of the cylindrical body. The ratio of the variables D1, D2, D4, L1 is selected so that the speckles of the core modes are at maximum brightness at the receiver at the moment of mechanical action on the distributed optical fibre. An Independent claim is included for a method of using the optical volume integrator.
