<p>This invention is an exercise support bar (100) having two hand grips (106, 116) rotatably connected to opposing sides of a mechanism for removably securing a dumbbell, wherein the dumbbell rotates freely between the two hand grips. In one embodiment, the securing mechanism is a support block (102) having a channel (132) passing from the top side of the suport block to the bottom side, and having an opening through a front side of the support block. A T-shaped channel door (142) is pivotally connected to the support block for removably locking the channel. The hand grips are rotatably connected to the support block by respective shafts (112, 122) rotatably disposed in the sides of the block. In operation, a conventional dumbbell (508) is secured in the channel by the mechanism. Then, the user performs exercises, wherein with each movement of the exercise support bar, the first, the second hand grips remain in the desired position while the dumbbell freely rotates, and remains in the vertical position.</p> |
