The measuring device consists of a U-shaped piece (4) with two limbs (6,8), the first having a fixed measuring surface (10) and the second designed to bear a measuring element (12). The measuring element is movable in the direction of the fixed measuring surface and has a counter-measuring surface (14) facing the fixed measuring surface. A clamp (18) is provided for aligning the flat article to be measured with respect to a set measuring axis (A) on the U-shaped part.
