Communicating messages in mobile radio network with several radio units involves comparing exchanged program identification and own data to determine newer program version

The method involves exchanging identification data between radio units to determine their association to the network and transmitting message data between the units if both belong to the network. Data and messages are transmitted using a program stored in a program memory in each unit and executed by a central controller. Program identification data are exchanged and compared with own data by both radio units to determine the newer version of the program, which is transmitted to the unit with the older version. An Independent claim is also included for a radio unit.
