PURPOSE: A rotator resistance estimating method of an induction motor is provided to automatically estimate a rotator resistance without rotating the induction motor and a discrete measuring device. CONSTITUTION: In a rotator resistance estimating method, at a first step(ST1), torque portion current of an induction motor is made to zero and the induction motor is stopped by applying a direct current. At a second step(ST2), a high frequency current over 30 Hz is supplied to the induction motor through an inverter. At a third step(ST3), a reference value of the high frequency current supplied to the induction motor and a magnitude of an output voltage of the inverter are obtained from an equivalent circuit. At a fourth step(ST4), an average power and a total resistance of the induction motor are obtained. At a fifth step(ST5), the calculation of the total resistance is repeated "n" times. At a sixth step(ST6), the average of the obtained resistance values is obtained. At a seventh step(ST7), a rotator resistance is obtained.
