PURPOSE: A display device and a video mute control method of the device are provided to solve the problems that occur on a screen when the mode of the display device is changed. CONSTITUTION: A display device includes a micro-controller(10), a horizontal/vertical processor(20), and a video bias means(30). The micro-controller checks stabilized states of horizontal and vertical synchronous signals provided by a host, and generates the first mode change signal when it is detected that the mode of the display device is initialized. The processor checks the stabilized states of the horizontal and vertical synchronous signals and outputs the second mode change signal when it is detected that the mode of the display device is initialized. The video bias means prevents a video signal provided by the host from being applied to the display device when the first or second mode change signal is inputted.
