PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk storing/reproducing device capable of shortening the response time to a host computer. SOLUTION: In this optical disk storing/reproducing device 8 connected to the host computer 1 with an ATAPI(advanced technology attachment packet interface) as an interface, the response time to the host computer 1 is shortened in such a manner that the command and parameter received from the host computer 1 are compared with the parameter held before and the cached sector type, and when they are equal to each other, the processing procedures for calculating the number of bites in one sector to be transmitted and calculating the number of transmitting sectors are eliminated.
