PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin discrimination device which can more precisely discriminate a coin. SOLUTION: Light radiated from a light source 3 is given to the side of a coin C. Reflected light reflected from the side is received by plural light, reception parts 4a, 4b and 4c arranged along the thickness direction of the coin at every thickness position of the coin. A discrimination means 6 compares output signals outputted from the light reception parts and therefore the type of the coin is discriminated.
