All functions such as overvoltage protection, limiter structures, filter properties, fuse address allocations, arming codes and the setting of delay times are realized by means of a circuit that consists of electronic components. Said circuit essentially consists of an integrated circuit that is enclosed by an IC housing. The operability of this circuit and its tamper-proofness are the most important qualitative criteria. According to the invention, the connections (12) of the IC housing (11) are configured as connecting points (15) for test control units for testing the operability of the integrated circuit (10) and the operability of the fuse. Said connecting points are used to connect the element to external electronic devices with which the electronic fuse is programmed.
