PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which facilitates switching between full- size processing and half-size processing. SOLUTION: An image read means which reads a two-frame portion of half-sized pictures 1A and 1B formed in a photographic film at a time and an image processing means which extracts half-sized pictures GA and GB from read picture information are provided, and scanning is performed twice to individually extract half-sized pictures GA and GB or half-sized pictures GA and GB are extracted at a time by one scanning.
