PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium that has a large track crossing contrast and a distortion-free track crossing signal and that is durable, inexpensive and readily manufacturable. SOLUTION: In the optical recording medium 1, at least either a tracking track 3 consisting of a recess or a prepit 5 is formed on a transparent substrate on which recording and reproducing light is made incident, and both cross sectional shapes are almost a trapezoid. The bottom 8 of at least either the tracking track or the prepit is of a shape including a projected curved surface parallelly continuous to a recording track 4, while the cross section of the boundary area between at least either the tracking track or the prepit and the recording track is formed of a ridge containing a curved surface. |
