The present invention relates to the use of an angiotensin II type 1 recepto r antagonist in the manufacture of a medicament for the prophylactic and/or therapeutic treatment of cardiovascular complications encountered in a patie nt in need of dialysis. The invention further relates to a method for prophylactic and/or therapeutic treatment of cardiovascular complications encountered in a patient in need of dialysis, comprising administering to th e patient a therapeutically effective amount of an angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonist.
