<p>The invention relates to a method for monitoring and controlling the manufacturing process of polyhydroxy alcohols. In this process, polyhydroxy alcohols are produced from formaldehyde and another aldehyde by aldolization and hydrogenation. In this method, the composition of at least one process stream is continuously monitored and predicted with the method for monitoring a process based on infrared spectrometry, and the difference between the measured composition and the desired composition is used to control the process.</p> |
