Medicinal compositions for preventing or treating viral myocarditis and vira l diseases induced by viral myocarditis with which cell injuries in various organs are prevented and treated regardless of virus type; and a method for preventing or treating. These compositions contain, as the active ingredient , 2-amino-2-(2-(4-octylphenyl)ethyl)propane-1,3-diol or pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof. The above method for preventing and treating myocarditis and viral diseases induced by viral myocarditis comprises administering an effective dose of the above compound or pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof.
