The present invention includes methods and systems for dynamically synthesizing custom portfolios of goods, services or financial instruments for clusters of customers from preference data is gathered (102), next, customers are clustered into clusters of similar customers (104), subsequently indifference or utility surfaces are determined that represent the landscape of customer preferences(105), and finally, custom and optimum portfolios are synthesized from the indifference surface and, preferably, historical data concerning the goods, services or financial instruments (106).
