The contact carrier has a number of contact carrier parts (1-5) with contact part holders for contact sockets or pins. The contact carrier parts are joined together to form a packet of defined shape. The contact carrier parts within the packet have recesses (10,11) in the plugging direction in parallel surfaces (8,9) aligned in the plugging direction and forming at least part of the negative shape of the contact parts. The recesses in the parallel surfaces have mutually engaging elements.
