<p>A fiber drawing device (1) has a drawing furnace (11) provided with a carbon heater (13), for heat-drawing an optical fiber preform (2). The carbon heater (13) has a heating portion at least 280 mm in length in a drawing direction, and emits heat so that a maximum temperature on the surface of the optical fiber preform (2) in the furnace (11) is lower than 1800°C. When the preform (2) is drawn with the temperature of a furnace tube (12) of the furnace (11) kept below 1800°C, an atomic arrangement in the preform (2) is comparatively adjusted and is kept minimized in disorderedness. Whereby, it is possible to provide the optical fiber (3) lowered in Rayleigh scattering intensity and in transmission loss, reflecting a lowered atomic arrangement disorderedness in the drawn optical fiber (3).</p> |
