ADDITION OF WATERMARK KEYS ACCORDING TO A FLEXIBLE FORMAT

A method for embedding supplemental data in an encoded signal that is different from the format used for encoding data of the encoded signal and recording said signal on a disc-like record carrier by applying marks of a first physical type. The supplemental data is encoded in accordance with a second format that is different from the format used for encoding data of th e encoded signal. Format description information related to the second format is recorded on the record carrier with either marks of the same physical type b ut modulated in accordance with a second, different modulation or with marks of a second type having different physical characteristics with respect to the first type.
