All tires of a vehicle incorporate a steel fiber bundle (3) which extends across the entire tire width within a given tyre segment and has a specific cross-section. The fiber bundle is located precisely at the minimum lawful profile depth and wears away when the profile is worn below this depth. An induction current passed through the fiber bundle changes as the diameter reduces and initiates an audible and/or visual warning.
