The invention relates to a high-temperature polymer electrolyte membrane (HT M) fuel cell, a system comprising HTM fuel cells and a method for operating an HTM fuel cell and/or HTM fuel cell system. The invention is based on the principle of the known polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell and overcomes the substantial disadvantage thereof, namely its dependence on the water content in the cell, by the selection of a novel electrolyte and by th e modification of the operating conditions, in particular, of the temperature and pressure.
