In an assembly to prepare semi-solid food for babies or sick persons, the food is prepared using pre-heated and/or boiled and/or boiled and cooled drinking water. The water is first heated to a temperature between 60 and 100 deg C and is then allowed to cool before being mixed into e.g. a powder food. The powder food then either dissolves, emulsifies, becomes part of a suspension, or swells and is reconstituted. The food is then brought to the correct temperature by an electrically-operated or water-cooled chilling element.
