A pre-formed sheet device comprising; (a) less than 10 % of a polysaccharide mixture consisting of: (i) gellan gum; (ii) xanthan gum; (iii) a mannose containing polysaccharide selected from a galactomannan, glucomannan and derivatives, or mixtures thereof; and (b) from about 30 % to about 99.5 % of water, wherein the device comprises less than 10 % total polysaccharide and the ratio of gellan gum to a mixture of xanthan gum and a mannose containing polysaccharide is from 4:1 to 1:4. The pre-formed sheet devices of the invention are suitable for topical application and display desirable amounts of syneresis and/or improved mechanical properties such as strength or flexibility, as well as excellent moisturisation, hydration and cooling benefits. Further, the devices of the present invention are easy to handle, unobtrusive and conform to the contours of a target surface when applied.
