Compass has magnetic sensing element and electromagnetic compensator energizing coils positioned in pairs symmetrically relative to compass vertical. Axle coinciding with direction of coil magnetic axle is inclined with respect to line passing through centers of coil and magnetic sensing element through angle where alpha is angle between axle coinciding with direction of coil magnetic axis and line which connects centers of coil and magnetic sensing element; ϑ is angle between vertical passing through coil center and line connecting centers of coil and magnetic sensing element.
