An apparatus (100) for reproducing information recorded on an information recording medium (21) provided with: an information reading device (2) for reading information recorded on the information recording medium (21), an error detecting device (10) for detecting a presence or absence of an error to indicate that the information can not be read correctly by the information reading device (2), a read control device (10) for controlling the information reading device (2) such that the information reading device (2) reads information again at a present reading position when the error is present, and for controlling the information reading device (2) such that the information reading device (2) reads information at a next reading position without reading information again at the present reading position when the error is present at each of consecutive reading positions.
