Optical components are produced in a single injection molding operation from a mixture of a main polymer and liquid crystal polymer. Molding is performed at a temperature where the viscosity of the liquid crystal polymer is lower than that of the main polymer An Independent claim is included for the following: (a) An optical component made as above. Preferred Features: The liquid crystal polymer forms less than 50 wt% and preferably less than 15 wt % of the mixture. The mould cavity is kept at a lower temperature than an injection nozzle while the cavity is being filled. |
