The pulse generator wheel has a wheel body (18) with several slot areas (24) around the circumference, the slots having a radius which is smaller than a nominal radius of the wheel periphery. Several protruding tooth areas (26) around the circumference have a radius that is larger than the nominal radius of the wheel periphery. The wheel operates in combination with a variable reluctance (VR) sensor (28).
