PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically activate the above device in the event of the outbreak of a fire to surely prevent fire spread and to prevent the deterioration of open cellular melamine resin foams in spite long-time heat by laying these foam at an enclosure surface, connecting a fire detector to a water feeding device to be activated by a fire detection signal and disposing outlets so as to face the foams. SOLUTION: When the fire occurs, the fire detector 4 near the outbreak point of the fire detects the fire and sends the fire detection signal to a corresponding pump. The pump operates upon receipt of the signal to send the water of a water feed tank to the outlets 8 around the fire detector 4 which sends the signal and to impart the water to planar bodies 3 consisting of the open cellular melamine resin foams. The water imparted thereto spreads over the entire surface of the planar bodies 3 by passing the open cells and the planar bodies 3 include a large volume of the water to prevent the fire spread. Simultaneously, the water sent by the pump is sprayed from water spray hydrants 9 toward the lower fire outbreak point, thereby executing fire extinguishment. The range where the water feeding device A imparts the water may be confined to one block partitioned by a fire door according to the size of a building.
