PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain positive push-out of vanes and prevent an operating fluid discharged from a higher pressure side discharge port, from leaking to a lower pressure side discharge port. SOLUTION: This vane pump is so constituted that side wall members are provided with intake ports 32, 33 opened to the intake areas of a pair of pump chambers P1, P2 formed between both major axis direction end parts of the inner peripheral surface 41 of a cam ring 4 and the outer peripheral surface of a rotor 5, and discharge ports 34, 35 independently opened to the respective discharge areas of the pump chambers P1, P2, that the faces, coming in sliding contact with the rotor 5, of the side wall members are provided with a plurality of arcuate back pressure grooves 36, 37 recessed to lead to the inner peripheral side end parts of slits 51 and that pump discharge pressure is led into these back pressure grooves 36, 37. Both discharge ports 34, 35 are respectively connected to separate actuators, and a control valve 60 for communicating only the discharge port higher in discharge pressure out of both discharge ports 34, 35, with the back pressure grooves 36, 37 is connected to both discharge ports 34, 35.
