PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device for a door, etc., having a self-timer function capable of automatically releasing a lock after the full opening lock is maintained only for a predetermined time when the door or a window is fully opened. SOLUTION: This opening and closing device for a door, etc., comprises a long outer cylinder 1 taking on a substantially flat C-shaped cross section, a long inserting member 2 telescopically inserted from a rear end part of the outer cylinder in the outer cylinder 1, a lock mechanism 3 for locking the inserting member 2 in a full opening position, and a timed lock releasing mechanism 4 for releasing a locking state of the lock mechanism 3 after a predetermined time passes from the point of time of moving in the inserting member 2 in the full opening position.
