PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost and improve the function of a reinforcing material by fixing one end of a spiral band body, in which size is specified, on the wall clay side of a wall-clay surface protective material and burying the other end into wall clay. SOLUTION: The reinforcing material 1 for laying the wall-clay surface protective material is constituted by spirally twisting a beltlike steel plate in width of 20-150 mm and in thickness of 2-8 mm at pitches of 50-500 mm, desirably 100-300 mm. The reinforcing material 1 in length corresponding to the height of a bank is positioned horizontally at the fixed place of the bank in the case of the execution of works, and the mounting section 2 of the reinforcing material 1 is exposed and buried from a section as a wall clay surface. The bank is completed, and a waterproof mat or the like is laid on the wall clay surface and the wall clay surface is adjusted so as not to collapse. A large number of wall-clay surface protective material B are superposed and laid along the wall clay surface while the mounting section 2 of the reinforcing material 1 is fixed onto the mounting member T of the protective material B. Thus, since the reinforcing material can be machined easily and the forming surface of the angle of torsion is formed in a curved surface having an angle to an axis, resistance against tensile action to the wall clay surface side can be increased.
