PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make inertia moment larger. SOLUTION: A head body 12 consists of a titanium alloy and an opening 16 is formed in a sole part 14. A sole plate 18 covering the opening 16 is formed by welding to the sole part 14 of the head body 12. The sole plate 18 is formed of a clad plate comprising a base material plate 20 consisting of a titanium alloy and a brass plate 22 having the specific gravity larger than the specific gravity of the base material plate 20 joined to its surface. The peripheral edge of the base material plate 20 is formed as a flange part 24 bent to a front surface side by as much as the thickness of the brass plate 22. The brass plate 22 of this flange part 24 is removed and is welded via the flange part 24 to the head body 12.
