PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer head driver and driving method in which the quantity of ink being ejected from a plurality of nozzles can be modulated through simple circuitry. SOLUTION: A control section 210 modulates the displacement of each piezoelectric element 136 in the form of a pulse width X1-Xn and, at the same time, sequentially generates the print data PD corresponding to the piezoelectric element 136 being driven. A constant current source 220 is actuated in synchronism with the print data PD to produce a driving current I of specified magnitude representative of the print data PD. Subsequently, a driving switch Si provided in correspondence with each piezoelectric element 136 is turned ON/ OFF and the print data PD corresponding to each piezoelectric element 136 is stored in a modulation voltage generating section Ci. Based on the modulation data Li stored in the modulation voltage generating section Ci and a reference voltage Vref, a driving voltage MV is generated and each piezoelectric element 136 is driven.
