PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a gear having a reverse tapered spline tooth by fixing a gear stock to a holding part of a lower die at the lower limit position of an upper die, forcedly moving a die to a working position, moving the upper die from the lower limit position to the upper limit position and retreating the die due to spring back of a spline tooth with releasing the gear and the die. SOLUTION: A gear with a spline 1 formed with both spline tooth groove and gear is set to a lower die so that a die 36 faces the tooth groove of a spline tooth. By descending an upper die, a work clamp 29 is descended with abutting on the gear 1, the die clamp 28 is abutted on a die 36 upper face and pushed down against the energizing force of a spring S2, the die 36 is moved along an inclined face 43b toward the center of the gear 1. When the upper die reaches the lower limit position and the die 36 reaches a working position, the spline tooth is formed to a reverse tapered shape. When the upper die is descended the die 36 is ascended due to the energizing force of the spring S2 to be moved outside in the diametrical direction, the gear 1 is taken out.
