OXYGEN PRODUCING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high efficiency oxygen-producing device, which uses water as a raw material and is capable of utilizing solar energy. SOLUTION: A means for generating oxygen from an aq. solution by irradiating a semiconductor photocatalyst (e.g. a thin film formed by using the semiconductor photocatalyst fine particle) existing in the aq. solution containing a metallic ion (e.g. iron (III) ion, silver (II) ion) acting as an electron acceptor with excited light 1 is provided. In the device, electrodes 2, 3 for oxidizing the metallic ion acting as the electron acceptor are preferably provided in the aq. solution and a means for intermittently irradiating the semiconductor photocatalyst thin film 4 with the excited light is preferably provided.
