PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hoist capable of a multi-layer winding which can ensure a high lift even by a small winch and prevent the generation of such trouble as a disordered winding even in the multi-layer winding. SOLUTION: A winch 3 is installed movably in a wind trunk direction on a base stand 2 and reciprocated by a hydraulic cylinder 4 against the base stand the telescoping direction and telescoping amount of the hydraulic cylinder 4 is controlled by a hydraulic copy servo valve 5 operated by a traverser device 6 and the torque of the winding trunk 31 is transmitted to the traverser device 6 by a power transmission means 7 and also the hydraulic cylinder 4 is operated by every prescribed amount by the rotation of the winding trunk 31 through the power transmission means 7, traverser device 6, hydraulic copy servo valve 5 and the winch 3 is moved so that the wire rope 14 hung down from the winding trunk 31 is always pointed to the inside of the prescribed fleet angle.
