PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner smoothly operated in a moving direction, with a suction apparatus body formed in compact constitution. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner is provided with a suction apparatus body having an electric blower 12 disposed obliquely upward toward the upper reaches, a dust collecting chamber 5 provided adjacently to the upper reaches of the electric blower 12, and a brush storage chamber 9 provided below the dust collecting chamber 5, having a suction port 8 in the bottom face and storing a rotating brush 7 inside; a grip pipe rotatably provided at the rear part of the suction apparatus body; a battery 14 provided at the rear part of the suction apparatus body and below a holding part for holding the grip pipe rotatably; and traveling rear wheels 15 provided at both side parts of the battery 14, at the bottom face of the suction apparatus body. The storage chamber 9 with the suction port 8 can thereby be disposed utilizing a space formed at the lower part of the dust collecting chamber 5 provided on the upper reaches of the electric blower 12, so that a device body can be miniaturized.
