PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject novel bisazo compound that attains high affinity for fiber in low salt concentration, dyeing reproducibility, high levelness of dyeing, and can give fabrics dyed in navy blue having excellent fastness of various kinds. SOLUTION: This is a bisazo compound re-presented by formula I [R1 and R2 are each H or the like; U is a group of formula II (R3 is H or the like; A1 is phenylene or the like; Z1 is a reactive group in the fiber) or the like; X1 and X2 are each fluoro or the like; T is a reactive group not in the fiber; one of the two (*) marks shows -U and the other does -T]. The compound of formula I is prepared, for example, by allowing a compound of the formula: H-T and a specific diamine to condense with 2,4,6-trihalogeno-s-triazine through a known process, and allowing a compound of H-U and a corresponding diamine to condense with 2,4,6-trihalogeno-s-triazine, diazotizing the resultant two condensate individually in a usual manner, allowing the latter diazo compound in the two condensates to couple with 1-amino-8-naphthol, followed by further coupling of the former condensate to the resultant coupling product.
