PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost by driving a sheet feeding mechanism and a sheet cutting mechanism selectively through a single drive motor thereby eliminating duplication of driving system members. SOLUTION: When a sheet is carried during print operation, a drive motor 5 is driven forward to mesh an oscillatory gear 21 and a roller drive gear 4 thus transmitting the driving power only to a sheet feeding mechanism. Upon finishing a specified print, the sheet is fed by an appropriate length and the printed part of the sheet is discharged to the outside of a printer 1 before driving the motor 5 reversely. An oscillatory arm 20 is oscillated through reverse driving to mesh an oscillatory gear 22 and the cutter drive gear 19 of a sheet cutting mechanism thus transmitting the driving power only to the sheet cutting mechanism. According to the arrangement, cost can be reduced through reduction of the number of members while reducing the size of the printer itself.
