PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut off the connection of the internal wheel chamber of a low pressure turbine and the extraction steam pipes in a condenser and weld them for connection with ease. SOLUTION: Extraction steam pipes 10a and 10b in a condenser 3 are cut off in the condenser 3, an internal wheel chamber 6 is raised at a specified height in relation to an external wheel chamber 2, the extraction steam pipes 10a and 10b raised together with the internal wheel chamber 6 are supported on the structure material 11 of the external wheel chamber 2, and the extraction steam pipes 10a and 10b in the condenser 3 are cut off at positions above the structural material 11 of the external wheel chamber 2 and separated from each other. After that, the internal wheel chamber 6 is moved upward, and then, a new internal wheel chamber is set at a specified height in relation to the external wheel chamber 6. To the new internal wheel chamber 6, the extraction steam pipes 10a and 10b supported on the structural material of the external wheel chamber 2 are welded at a position higher than the structural material 11 of the external wheel chamber 2, and then the internal wheel chamber 6 is further lowered, and the tips of the extraction steam pipes 10a and 10b connected to the internal wheel chamber 6 are connected to a feed water heater 5, etc., by welding.
