PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compounding agent capable of significantly increasing a melt tension of a resin melt by melt-kneading, in a polyolefin resin, a thermoplastic resin that is higher in melting point or glass transition temperature than the polyolefin resin and has a specified steady flow shear viscosity ratio. SOLUTION: The compounding agent for thermoplastic resin is obtained by melt- kneading 99.5 to 60 wt.% of a polyolefin resin (A) and 0.5 to 40 wt.% of a thermoplastic resin (B) at a temperature not lower than a melting point of the component (B) when the component (B) is crystalline, or at a temperature higher by 50 deg.C or over than a glass transition temperature of the component (B) when the component (B) is non-crystalline. The component (B) should consist of a thermoplastic resin capable of satisfying the requirements that the component (B) has a melting point or glass transition temperature higher than the component (A) and that a ratio ofηs(B)/ηs (A) whereinη2(B) is a steady flow shear viscosity of the component (B) when measured at a shear velocity of 6.77×10-1 sec-1 at a temperature not lower than the melting point or higher by 50 deg.C or over than the glass transition temperature andηs(A) andηs(A) is a steady flow shear viscosity of the component (A) upon measurement under the same conditions as mentioned above ranges 0.05 to 150.
