PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a moisture-proof paper having slight smell, excellent defibration in recovery as waste paper, excellent moisture resistance and blocking resistance. SOLUTION: This copolymer latex for a moisture-proof paper is obtained by subjecting 100 pts.wt. of a monomer mixture comprising 25-60 wt.% of an aliphatic conjugated diene-based monomer, 0.5-10 wt.% of an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and 30-74.5 wt.% of another monoolefinic monomer copolymerizable with the monomers to emulsion polymerization in the presence of a cyclic unsaturated hydrocarbon containing an endocyclic unsaturated bond and/or anα-methylstyrene dimer. This coating composition for moisture-proof paper comprises the copolymer latex for moisture-proof paper and an inorganic pigment.
