PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject tape deformable into a deeply recessed shape or a shape having many small protrusions by bonding discontinuous carbon fibers having a specific length distribution with a resin, or the like. SOLUTION: This tape comprises discontinuous carbon fibers having a length distribution in which the average length (50% of the average length of the carbon fibers in a sample) is about 40-70% based on the longest fibers and bonded with a resin (e.g. an epoxy) or an adhesive having fugitive nature (e.g. a spray liquid comprising cellulose as a substrate). The tape preferably has an extensibility corresponding to the relative displacement of the carbon fibers within the range of 0-45% based on the longest fibers and both surface thereof are preferably covered with protective films (e.g. polyethylene films). The tape is obtained by drawing and cracking continuous and parallel carbon filaments in crackers 4 to 7 and impregnating the cracked filaments in an in-line manner in a resin solution 10, or the like. |
