PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject system for preventing accumulation of the detection errors for the relative position y of the magnetic poles of stators M1, M2 of a linear motor M. SOLUTION: This system works as follows: a drive control circuit 21, a drive circuit 22 and a pole position detector 22a are combined with a knitting control unit 10; when, for example, an OFF-switch SW2 is actuated, the knitting control unit 10 acts so as to retreat a knitting member W to a limit via the drive control circuit 21 and the drive circuit 22 and output a clear signal S5, and the drive circuit 22, in turn, according to the clear signal S5, outputs a reset signal S7 to the pole position detector 22a, thereby properly correcting the relative position y of the respective magnetic poles of a stator M1 and a needle M2, detected by the detector 22a via a sensor A.
