PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gelling agent that stably effects the gelation of an ester compound or the like that is normally solid and is liquidized upon being heated while it is in a liquidized state by using aluminum 2-ethylhexanoate and a fatty acid as the effective components. SOLUTION: The fatty acid that can be used in the gelling agent comprises desirably 9-24C saturated and/or unsaturated fatty acids, for example, lauric acid. It is suitable that 0.01-100 pts.wt. fatty acid and 0.01-20 pts.wt. aluminum 2-ethylhexanoate are added to 100 pts.wt. ester compound or the like. In this case, it is possible that an aluminum fatty acid salt other than aluminum 2- ethylhexanoate, for example, aluminum stearate is used in combination. The gelation of an ester compound or the like can be effected by a method such as one comprising simultaneously adding aluminum 2-ethylhexanoate and a fatty acid to the ester compound or the like or one comprising separately dispersing them in portions of the ester compound or the like and mixing the dispersions.
