PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character-string processing method and apparatus capable of printing each character-string within a constant length even when any one of registered character-strings are selected for printing by setting a constant length, registering a plurality of character strings as registered strings, selecting an arbitrary one or more of them and applying the selected string to a printer capable of performing printing on a printing object matter. SOLUTION: A character-string processing method is applied for a printing device, capable of setting a constant length and registering (n or an integer higher than 2) sets of character-strings as registered character-strings while arbitrary (m or an integer of 1<=m<=n) sets among (n) sets of character-strings are selected to apply them to a printing device capable of printing them on the printing objective matter. In this case, a register command for inputting an arbitrary character-string as a proposed character-string and registering the same as one set among the registered character- strings is effected and when the register command is effected after setting the constant length, the proposed character-string is judged whether the same can be printed within the range of constant length or not. When the proposed character-string is judged that the same can be printed within the constant length, the proposed character-string is registered as one set of the registered character-strings. |
