PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel pipe column which is welded only at one place in configuration. SOLUTION: Steel pipes 10, 20 are improved to steel pipes 15, 25 having diaphragms by providing diaphragms 11, 12, 21, 22 inside the intermediate portions of the steel pipes 10, 20 in the length direction in one united body and by forming beam coupling portions 2, 3 at one place. Two steel pipes 15, 25 having diaphragms are coupled at joint 4 by welding in length direction and beam coupling portions 2, 3 are formed at two places for obtaining the steel pipe column 1. The steel pipe column 1 is realized by making a welded joint 4 between steel pipes 15, 25 each having two diaphragms in one united body so that the welding work is required only at one place thereby the work can be simplified and performed quickly with a reduced amount of welding materials at a low cost.
