PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller coaster capable of further promoting thrills and amusements by safely, reliably, and vertically producing sudden plunges even at the initial travel. SOLUTION: A carriage 9 is mounted to an endless travel rail 1 of a predetermined length laid with ups, downs, bends, and curves in such a way as to be engaged and freely travel. The carriage 9 is hoisted to a predetermined height from a platform along the endless travel rail 1, then suddenly plunged, and sequentially made to travel with bends and curves in this roller coaster. A loop section 6 for hoisting and looping the carriage 9 is provided at the upper end of the hoisting part of the endless travel rail 1, and a vertical section 8 is connected to the loop section 6.
