PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorant composition having a high deodorization effect not only to ammonia, trimethylamine, n-butyric acid, hydrogen sulfide, etc., but to methyl mercaptan as well. SOLUTION: This deodorant composition contains 0.0025 to 0.04 wt.% 2- methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (component (1)) and 0.0075 to 0.12 wt.% 5-chloro-2- methyl-4-isothazolin-3-one (component (2)). The composition prepared by making combination use of other deodorant components in addition to the compound (1) and the component (2) is more preferable. The other deodorant components are exemplified by plant extract-base deodorant components, such as persimmon juice extract, tea extract and fruit extract, copper ion-base deodorant components, iron ion deodorant components, etc., and the representative examples thereof are the persimmon juice extract-base deodorant components. The deodorant composition prepared by incorporating the compound (1) and the component (2) as well as the other deodorant components, such as those described above, into a gel base is more preferable.
