PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To wrap-around gores to be thin in an umbrella by means of a simple operation and also to prevent a floor from getting wet by moving a mobile rod in the neighborhood of a ferrule part at the tip of the umbrella straight in a direction toward a handle, changing it into a rotary movement by means of the helical groove of a large lead or a screw and rotating a rotary cylinder forward, which is coaxially arranged bear the ferrule part. SOLUTION: When the umbrella is closed, ribs 7' and the gores 8' are in a dispersed state concerning a main rod 1', the mobile rod 4' in the neighborhood of the tip part of the ferrule is put on the ground and the handle is pushed toward the ferrule by hand and, then, the mobile rod 4' is moved in a handle direction in the main rod 1'. The straight progress movement of the helical groove of the large lead angle (45 deg.-80 deg.) of the mobile rod 4' or the male screw 21' is received by a helical projection being not movable in the inner diameter of a rib fixing cylinder 5' or a female screw 13' and, then, the mobile rod 4' is rotated. Then in a mobile rod rotation type, the rotation of the mobile rod 4' is transmitted to the key 14' of a ferrule outer cylinder 20' and transmitted from the key groove 15' of a rotary cylinder 3' to the rotary cylinder 3'.
