PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a melt sticking to a welded work or an excessive sphericalization of the tip of a wire without any complicated controlling and causing a large increase in a cost by giving a mechanical motion different from a movement corresponding to a welding speed of a consumable electrode wire and enforcedly short-circuiting and releasing the consumable electrode wire and a molten pool at the time of completion of welding. SOLUTION: A joining is carried out by melting a wire 1 and a welded work 5. A power supply to a feeding device of the wire 1 is stopped to terminate a welding. In this case, a mechanical motion 6 is given to the wire 1 in order to move the wire toward the side of a bead 4 before a drop 2 of the tip of the wire 4 and the molt pool of a welded work 5 are solidified. The tip of the wire 1 is enforcedly short-circuited by the mechanical motion 6, and the mechanical motion 6 is given to the wire 1 after the short-circuiting so that the wire is separated from the bead 4. With this mechanical motion 6, the tip of the wire 1 is enforcedly released.
